What is a Lite Hash Rate Graphics Card?

What is Lite Hash Rate?


So, what is a "hash rate", and what does this mean for gamers? A "hash" is a fixed-length alphanumeric code that represents words, messages or data. Simply put, hash rate is a measure of the processing power and speed at which a cryptocurrency mining device operates. NVIDIA's new Lite Hash Rate GPUs simply contain a reduced hash rate, making them harder to use for mining but perfect for gaming. By limiting hash rate, NVIDIA hopes that their new range of GPUs will "end up in the hands of gamers" (as opposed to those using graphics cards for mining cryptocurrency).

What Difference Will LHR Make To Gaming?


When comparing LHR GPUs to their previous versions, there's no change in specifications, speed or even looks. Having a lite (or 'lower') hash rate simply makes these graphics cards less useful to those using GPUs for reasons other than gaming. Users will be able to enjoy playing the latest game titles without being interrupted. The main aim of these graphics cards is to slow down Ethereum workloads, which is a popular currency that has many projects and clones out there. There are however other types of coins existing, such as Dogecoin, which is not based on Ethereum - either way, it's still definitely a great step in the right direction for gamers!
