Simplified Design

The new Windows design is sleek, modern and simplified. Minimalism comes to mind, with a new start button and taskbar offering a straightforward and concise feel. Pastel shades complement the comforting rounded corners, and the flexible way to open and snap multiple windows is really neat. New Features

Windows 11 comes with a new range of useful features which we're sure to make use of. In keeping with the theme of bringing us "closer", Chat from Microsoft Teams has been integrated directly into the Windows Taskbar, a nifty feature for users of the app. Chat allows you to connect to your contacts through text, speaking or even video from anywhere- it's definitely reminiscent of our old favourite programme, MSN Messenger! 

Gamers will be delighted to hear that they haven't been forgotten about. Windows 11 is ready to get to work with the latest gaming technologies, and will really unlock your system's full potential. Features such as Direct X Ultimate and DirectStorage are just some of the ways in which this new OS generation will aid in captivating us in gameplay. 

Constantly checking the news and weather? Meet Widgets- a smart, personalised, AI-powered feed that lets us check in with the world around us without having to constantly pick up your smartphone. We think this is great for those who like to be connected to the world around us, without being disrupted.

How To Upgrade To Windows 11

Users of Windows 10 will be pleased to know that upgrading to Windows 11 will be totally free (as long as your device meets the system requirements). According to Microsoft, the free upgrade will start rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs "this holiday" season and continue into 2022. Once Windows 11 is rolled out, users can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for Updates. Here Windows 11 should be displayed, where you can click Download and Install. If you're part of the Windows Insider Program, you can get started early, and download the Preview Build version now. It is important to note that this version will not be the most stable, and shouldn't really be tested on your everyday devices or important PCs.

So, what are the minimum PC requirements for Windows 11?

  • CPU: 1GHz or more, with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit CPU or SoC.
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Storage: 64GB
  • System Firmware: TPM 2.0
  • GPU: Compatible with DirectX 12 with WDDM 2.0 driver
