Samsung's Tap View and Multiview Explained

Samsung are well-known for their fantastic innovations when it comes to technology, especially on their TV’s. In this Blog, we will discuss what the features of Tap View and Multiview are and how they can benefit you, how to set them up, which 2021 models will have them and where you can buy them.

What is Samsung’s Tap View?

Say goodbye to the days of messing around with settings, buttons & cables just to mirror your device to the TV, as many of Samsung 2021 TVs have the incredible ‘tap view’ enabled. This allows you to simply tap the TV to mirror what’s on your phone to the big screen.

With this, you can watch videos from your phone on the big screen, show friends and family photos from your holiday, or even view a Spreadsheet on the large screen for the days where work ends up coming home with you. Simply tap...it's that easy!

How do I use Samsung Tap View?

Step 1) 

Ensure your device is compatible. Although tap view is an incredible feature that we wish was available on all devices, it is currently only compatible with Galaxy devices running Android 8.1 or above, as well as version 5.1 on the SmartThings App.

Step 2)

Download and Setup the SmartThings app - This doesn’t take long to download and setup, plus it’s totally worth having as you can enjoy a range of awesome features from adjusting the TV’s volume to controlling your entire smart home!

Step 3) 

Open up the Smarthings app, click the Menu and then Settings, swipe to Tap View and Switch on.

Step 4) 

Simply tap the back of your phone to your TV to mirror. Of course, we recommend gently tapping the phone, as well as aiming for the sides and top of the TV, avoiding delicate areas such as the corners of the TV and the screen.

What is Samsung’s Multiview?

You’ll never go back once you’ve experienced the capabilities of Samsung’s multiview, it’s a real game-changer!

Imagine being able to display more than one thing on the TV? How much easier would things be if you could catch up with the daily news on the left side of the screen whilst following a morning yoga routine mirrored from your phone on the right.

Even better, imagine gaming on the PS5 on one half of the screen whilst watching your favourite streamer or a gameplay run-through on the left. Yes, you heard that right, you can use multiple compatible devices - from Next-gen consoles to Blu-ray players and of course your Phone too.

How do I use Samsung's Multiview?

Step 1) 

Simply press the home button on your TV remote and select multiview.

Step 2 for External Sources)

Select the content that you want to be displayed on the left side of the screen, if you’re using an external source, navigate to the source menu and click the connection guide and then choose your device.

Step 2 for Mobile Devices) 

If you’re using a mobile device, on an Android use the Smartview or Screen Mirror button, and on an Apple device use the Airplay button.

Step 2 for a Laptop/PC) 

If you want to use a compatible Laptop or PC that supports screen mirroring or smart view, you can use the feature that allows it to project to a screen.

Can I change the Layout on Samsung Multiview?

Yes, whilst this does vary between models, you may be able to choose between Picture-in-picture options or Picture-by-Picture options. You can also adjust the sizes for each screen as well as move them around the display for your preferred placement.

Can I choose which Audio is prioritised on Samsung Multiview?

You can choose whether you want to hear the audio from the small screen or the large screen, or you could even choose to hear audio from them both simultaneously. You could even pair your Samsung TV with a Soundbar for the ultimate audio experience.
