Hi Stephanie! Tell us three fun facts about yourself.

  1. The 'NNE' in NNESAGA is short for my middle name.
  2. I used to play football.
  3. I am a huge sneaker addict.

When did your streaming journey begin, and what inspired you to start?

Content creating & Streaming has always been secondary for my role. I am a gaming consultant, producer & games event manager. I started NNESAGA because there was barely any representation in the games industry that celebrated black gamers in it. There were hardly any black professionals in exec positions or in the forefront. I wanted to get into the industry but it was difficult as a black woman to get started in the field. So I decided to create my own platform, my own space and build a community that allows black and marginalised gamers to feel at home, celebrated and safe. I also wanted to open doors for people and provide opportunities to those who felt like they couldn’t succeed in this space. Through years of curating gaming events, consulting and working with gaming brands to create more inclusive & diverse changes, 6 years later I am here being one of the leaders in the U.K for changing the culture of gaming.

What's your favourite game/content to stream/share? What do you enjoy most about it?

Because I am such a diverse gamer, it really depends on my mood, what my community would like to play or whatever game I am working on with a games studio. One day I’ll be invested in a story based horror, the next day could be Smash Bros Sundays. I love the fact that my community welcomes me to explore different genres of gaming because of how diverse my community is.

Do you feel like there is a stigma for women streamers in the industry?

There has always been a stigma that women, especially black women don’t game. That we are some sort of unicorns and don’t exist. We are here. We have always been here its just that the industry doesn’t want to pay attention to us or celebrate us like they do with other demographics. Causing our voices, our influence and our presence to be drowned.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women who want to begin streaming?

Always remember it is IMPACT over NUMBERS. It is a journey, not a race. Find your purpose in this space and never lose sight as to why you started this journey to begin with. Don’t conform and stick to who you are.
