Hi Mary! Tell us three fun facts about yourself.

  1. I'm an aspiring self-taught Game Designer, and hope to create my own games in the future. I also hope to inspire BIPOC to get into STEM and share my skills.
  2. I love crime shows such as Law and Order, Criminal Minds and CSI. They inspired me to study Criminology at University. I was curious about how the minds of Criminals worked.
  3. I’m a very ambitious and caring person. I put 100% into everything I do and care for the people who love and support me. I notice the little things about people and it’s always their best quality.

When did your streaming journey begin, and what inspired you to start?

I started streaming on Twitch every few weeks or months in 2017 but I didn’t take it seriously till November 2017. I decided to take it seriously because I really enjoyed interacting with people and meeting new people.

What's your favourite game/content to stream/share? What do you enjoy most about it?

My favourite game is between Sims 2 and Dead by daylight. I grew up playing the Sims and Sims 2 is my favourite of the franchise. I’m able to live a virtual life and customise it to my liking, create storylines, create unique characters, and build houses. I have been playing my simself save for over 5 years now. The possibilities are endless when playing The Sims 2. I love Dead by Daylight because it’s a fun coop game that I can play with my friends all over the world. The objective of the game is simple, but playing with friends or Randoms, spices everything up. You can customise your character and there’s a variety of characters to play with. I mainly play as Claudette Morel or Jane Romero as a survivor, and The Plague, Michael Myers or The Doctor as a Killer.

Do you feel like there is a stigma for women streamers in the industry?

I believe there is. I believe that some people view female streamers as objects for them to control. Some people truly believe that If they give the streamer any kind of money, that they are entitled to their body and to date them. Others slut-shame women for wearing low cut tops or anything revealing, they are labelled as money-hungry or ‘E-girls’. Some people use Twitch as a dating site and its vile.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women who want to begin streaming?

Be unapologetically yourself.
