Hi Danielle! Tell us three fun facts about yourself.

  1. I'm a psychologist by "trade" and have a BSc Psychology and Counselling degree.
  2. I'm left-handed.
  3. I've been featured on a billboard in Times Square, NY.

When did your streaming journey begin, and what inspired you to start?

My streaming journey began roughly around 2017 and I dabbled with a few streams on Youtube and Twitch here and there, but I didn’t start streaming consistently on Twitch until November 2019. My inspiration to start streaming was the desire to create a greater connection with the community I had already built within the Sims community. People knew of me because of the content I had created for The Sims, but didn’t really know me and I wanted to change that. I wanted to become less of an entity that existed online, and to be seen more as a person that my community could connect with, whether this was through games or just talking to them online!

What's your favourite game/content to stream/share? What do you enjoy most about it?

I love story-rich games! I really enjoy playing the Sims because I can create my own dramatic backstories and story lines. Sometimes leaving the Sims to do what they want can create their own drama! Recently, I also played through the entire Tell Tale series of The Walking Dead for the first time and I can honestly say it is now one of my all time favourite games. There are so many dramatic twists and turns that leave me completely rattled – I loved every moment (except for when a certain someone died, I did not like that at all)!

Do you feel like there is a stigma for women streamers in the industry?

I think that the industry has changed a lot in the last five years, and women are not only more present, but being given a lot more opportunities to shine and grow. Adult women are now the largest demographic in gaming. This alone tells me that that is the gaming space is changing and room is not just being made, but being dominated by women! We are still faced with racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny (and more) within the industry, but there are spaces that I feel comfortable and safe in, like Black Girl Gamers, who have created a space dedicated to ensuring Black women like myself can feel safe, game, and grow in the industry.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women who want to begin streaming?

The gaming space was never made for us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it ours and still thrive it in! If there’s a game you love, your passion will come through to your audience! But also, find your niche! What is something that you haven’t seen anyone else doing, that you want to do? And finally, branding is everything! Find your brand, whether it’s colours or an aesthetic and make it relatable to you!
