A TV fit for a mansion



Do you live in a mansion? Do you want a TV that covers an entire wall of your home? Have you got far too much money? Then read on.

Samsung has released “The Wall Luxury”, a new version of its already mind-bogglingly big TV. 

Samsung is tight-lipped on the exact cost at the moment, but it’s safe to say it isn’t going to be cheap.
Measuring an outrageous 292 inches, this might just be the most extravagant telly ever made.

Just to get that into a bit of perspective, the TV is just over 21ft in width. An adult giraffe can grow up to 20ft in height. Wow.

Not only that, this beauty boasts 8K resolution for what can only be described as a flawless viewing experience.

Just imagine watching a blockbuster or playing your favourite game on that.

Now, we know what you’re thinking: who on earth can want a TV THAT big? Well, quite incredibly, Samsung says its creation comes on the back of research into what today’s super-rich desire.

"We set out to create a product unlike anything else — matching the lifestyle and taste of those looking for the most exclusive and premium visual experiences in their homes,” explains Samsung's Mark Quiroz.

If nothing else, it is to be admired as a feat of sublime engineering. The Wall can in fact be made to measure so that it covers an entire wall, hence the name.

Despite its gigantic width, the TV is just 30mm thick.

It’s designed specially to never be turned off. When you’re not watching it, it transforms into a digital canvas of choice to match the interior of the home. You can even design bespoke background themes to blend perfectly into the colour of a wall or even wallpaper, making it almost invisible.

You might think that having the TV on 24/7 is not a good idea and perhaps even that it flies in the face of the current drive to conserve energy.

However, the TV display is made up of light-emitting diodes that don’t require a backlight. This technology produces the most vivid colours and truest blacks and, incredibly, these diodes have a 100,000-hour lifetime. That means the TV can be on constantly for almost 11-and-a-half years before they give up.

What’s more, understanding that few shows or games being made in 8K at the moment, the TV’s artificial intelligence optimises every single scene on screen, upscaling regular TV to almost-8K quality.

These amazing TVs will be available globally from next month (July).

But don’t worry if you’re not an oil baron, Samsung also manufactures some amazing TVs for the everyday man, including its 2019 range of QLED 4K and 8K sets.
